under the snowflake magnolia

I dusted my big girl camera off and tried to catch some hummingbirds doing what they do best...eat.

I learned a lot of things...
It takes patience.
A lot of it.
You need to have the lighting just right.
The setting on your camera should be right.
They are fast little buggers.
And you need to take lots and lots of shots to get a few good ones.

I decided to get my big girl camera and dust it off because a photo challenge might be coming up in a few weeks.  Ellis is now so far ahead of me in skills wise I may never catch up.

So I took my camera out and set by the fire pit one evening...just enjoying the backyard.

We are gearing up for yet another family Photo Challenge.  Get your voting fingers ready!

There possibly could be an adult division and a kid division.

We had bubbles flying all over the place and they were landing in the hosta and staying there forever.

Today was a stay-at-home day for some of us.  Trevor and Ellis went mountain biking, Cassie and Mark went to the grocery store, and Alaire and I went on a little hike down the road with our cameras.

Alaire has inherited my Dad's Sony which still had pics that he had taken.

We have seen these beautiful Spicebush swallowtails.

This is what they look like first.

We had lots of fun.  Picked some blackberries, and took lots of pictures, including some with the lens ball.  these are all my shots, hopefully, we can download Alaire's tomorrow.  I think she got some good ones.  We are both still learning our cameras.
